Craft Cocktails Draught Beer Craft Beer Bottles and Cans Outdoor Space

This bar conforms with the screenless charter

The qualification of this bar is suspect

A Gin Bar with an inclination to philander. Though many of the curated cocktails at Scofflaw incorporate its own house brand of gin, available by the bottle if you prefer, other concoctions are eager to please the less Anglo leaning. In addition to its illustrious adulterations and dominated by Lagunitas, a dozen or so draft beer options vie for attention, and of course, it wouldn't be Logan Square without PBR tall boys and Malort.

The space encapsulates two rooms, both with massive wall to wall north, and sometimes east facing windows. The first room is dominated by a thickset bar posted up on the west wall. Low tables surround the candlelit fireplace and occupy much of the rest of the space, with a few tall tables and a booth against the back wall. The adjoining room is a pen for a pack of domesticated antique Victorian sofas arranged both around, and in total disregard to another candle lit fireplace. Not to be forgotten, along the east sidewalk are a few outdoor tables for imbibing al fesco.

With the massive windows not a lot of extra light is needed giving the space a two tone feel, getting more intimate in the darker reaches away from the street. The decor gives off shadowy, earthy tones and when mixed with the Motown and R&B wafting aurally, the final product is more of an industrial hip. Really though, the most important thing to remember is to mind your timepiece, because the fresh baked cookies come out at midnight, and yes, they’re free.
