The qualification of this bar is suspect

Though it has certainly been muttered by many a beer snob before, my, what a fantastic establishment. At 359 Metropolitan Ave the unassuming facade, a defining characteristic of this dynamic Brooklyn neighborhood, does little disguise the supreme curation of the fermenting arts within.

The internal space mirrors the simplicity of the periphery with basic and homely decor befitting a whimsical country cottage while the low incandescent light and tended audio creates a comfortable but not overly friendly atmosphere. The bar itself occupies much of the east wall while low tables run from across from the bar to a back room.

An extensive and more exotic beer list is becoming more common a midst the craft beer boom but Spuyten Duyvil takes it too another level. Their offerings are not only deep and far reaching but what makes them special is the adventurous spirit embodied in the lineup. Outlandish experimental flavor profiles and rare sessions are the rule more often than the exception. The options can be overwhelming but the barkeep is keen to help with descriptions and recommendations though for beer lovers there is nary a poor choice. If a beer lover you are not, there is a small yet sophisticated wine list prepared. If you're looking for a cocktail though you best move along.
